CORONAVIRUS VACCINE

COVID -19 VACCINATION

May we please remind patients to ensure we have an up to date contact telephone number, including a mobile number if you have one.  We are contacting all patients for appointments for the vaccination either by telephone or text message.

To speed up the booking process we will contact some patients where possible via text message.  The message will identify itself as coming from the Practice and have a link to book a Covid vaccination appointment.

There have been social media posts warning about scams, however the texts we are sending will identify Sutton Valence Group Practice as the sender and are for a free Covid vaccination.  There will never be an element that asks for any financial information.

If we do not have mobile telephone contact information we will be telephoning landlines or writing to patients to offer the Covid vaccination.  We will ensure that all of our eligible patients are offered a vaccination.

We will continue to follow NHS England guidelines on when each patient group is invited.  For more information please see the government Covid vaccination information page https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-vaccination-guide-for-older-adults/covid-19-vaccination-guide-for-older-adults

As part of The Ridge PCN which is made up of surgeries from Langley, Lenham, Bearsted, Headcorn and ourselves we are pleased to confirm that a Covid

vaccination centre will be based at Glebe Medical Centre Church Road HARRIETSHAM ME17 1AP and the Covid vaccination programme has now begun.

The vaccine supply is centrally delivered and practices have no control over this.  Things are being changed at very short notice.  Please be aware that you may receive calls from our Primary Care Network to change your appointment.

We are also aware of some scam calls regarding the vaccination programme.  Please remember NHS services are free. At no point will you be asked to pay for the Covid-19 vaccine.

Please do not contact the surgery (Sutton Valence Group Practice) as eligible patients will be contacted according to the priority groups defined by the government.

As you may have seen on the news the Pfizer vaccination has strict storage requirements and they will be given at Harrietsham surgery.

Please see the CCG website for more information:

The vaccine will be offered in age order to:

  those aged over 80 years

  those aged over 75 years

adults on the NHS shielded patient list

  those aged over 65 years

adults under 65 with long term conditions (a full list is available in the national guidance)

those aged 50 - 64 will be offered it later

Please do not contact the surgery to ask about the vaccine until you receive a letter, text or phone call about getting the vaccine.  Our phone lines are very busy and we would appreciate your support in keeping the lines open for those people who need to contact us about other health matters.

The vaccination programme will take several months to work through everyone so it may be some time before you are contacted.

Please visit this page frequently, it will be updated on a regular basis as and when we receive further information.
